DRM trial in Jakarta using MW transmitters for large area coverage
in Indonesia
The Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) Consortium and the Indonesian public broadcaster, Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI), held a full DRM30 digital radio trial and workshop in Jakarta, between 24th and 27th of March. This was one of the most comprehensive such events ever organised by the Consortium. The technical presentations on the first day were perfectly illustrated by the medium wave trial organised the next day at the Bogor station, about 60 kilometers south of Jakarta. The practical discussion of the excellent trial results on the 26th and the exploration of all DRM options and benefits (including in VHF) completed the picture. On the last day of the workshop a discussion on the best way to introduce DRM countrywide and the possibilities of producing single or multi-standard receivers in the country completed a very successful event. Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) at SADIBA Conference
As South Africa considers digitising radio, the Southern Africa Broadcasting Association (SADIBA), held a digital TV and radio conference (13th - 17th April) where DRM was present with demonstrations and presentations. The South African Minister of Communication, Ms Faith Muthambi, MP, attended the full DRM programme on the last day of the conference. There was also good news for DRM Consortium member, Radio Pulpit, which won 6 Awards including “Community Station of the Year” at the 2015 MTN Media Awards. The Awards are sponsored by the MTN Group, a South Africa-based multinational mobile telecommunications company, operating in many African, European and Middle Eastern countries. Congratulations to Dr Roelf Petersen, the Chair of the DRM Southern Africa Platform, and all at Radio Pulpit! It’s proving to be a good year so far for them as they have also been granted a six-month extension to the trial licence to continue their successful DRM trial broadcast until October 2015. Read more

All India Radio Trial in Bangalore
All India Radio will be conducting trial transmission in DRM mode with multiple programmes from SPT Bangalore as per below:
Date : 20th April to 30th April, 2015
1745 - 2230 UTC (2315-0400 IST) - 7550 kHz to UK & West Europe
Programme 1 = GOSIV/HINDI/GOS-V
Programme 2 = Vividh Bharati
Consequently GOS V Service from 2045-2230 UTC (0215 -0400 IST) on 11620 kHz to Aus/NZ will be shifted from DRM mode to analogue mode.

Successful DRM General Assembly Concludes in France
Under the theme “Clever Radio for Smart Countries” the 2015 General Assembly (GA) of the DRM Consortium ended on a high note with a positive commitment to new DRM developments, receivers and markets. The event took place on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th of March at the headquarters of Thomson Broadcast, in Conflans Sainte Honorine, near Paris. DRM+ Transmission in Bratislava, Slovakia
Slovakia has been running DRM+ transmissions since October 2011. These broadcasts, initially set up as a trial, are now regular broadcasts, as explained by Mr. Juraj Oravec, Deputy Director General for Radiocommunications in the Research Institute of Posts and Telecommunications, Banska Bystrica, Slovakia.
